CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's cross country team finished fifth at the Castleton Invitational Saturday morning, posting a team time of 2:03:27.

It was Jill Robb leading the way for the Spartans, placing 14^th overall with a time of 22:16.9. Following closely behind was Lanza Bellomo, who finished 19^th in 22:58.2.

Halle Christian was next across the line for Castleton, earning a 24^th place with a time of 23:37.1. Ariana Reynolds finished 37^th in 26:33.2, while Tori Behrendt placed 38^th with a time of 28:01.8.

Rounding out the Castleton runners was Jane Trowbridge, who finished 40^th overall with a time of 30:56.4. With a number of new runners joining the program this season, the Spartans will look to continue developing their depth and building the team throughout the season.

The Spartans will continue next Saturday, Sept. 12, when they compete at the Hamilton Short Course Invitational, with the race beginning at 11 a.m.
