PROVIDENCE, R.I. – David Coyle of the Vermont State University Castleton men's ice hockey team was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the week for the week ending January 25.

Coyle and the Spartans went 1-1 in conference play this weekend. The squad dropped a tough 5-4 overtime loss to Plymouth State on Friday evening before blanking New England College, 3-0, on Saturday.

The rookie recorded three points in the loss, tallying two assists and a goal, before adding an assist on Saturday's game-winner to skate away from the weekend with four points. He also finished with two blocked shots and a +1 rating.

The Vancouver, BC native has been quite the asset, accumulating 12 points on eight assists and four goals this season.

Coyle and the Spartans will return home on Friday, January 30 as they are set to host the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth in a 7 p.m. conference matchup.
