BOSTON, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's ice hockey team picked up an overtime win on Friday night, defeating UMass Boston 4–3.

How It Happened
Castleton controlled the first period and finally broke through late, with
Jason Atkinson scoring off a
Cole Bowditch assist for a 1–0 lead.
The Spartans made it 2–0 early in the second when
Luke Chakrabarti scored at 1:21, assisted by
Emmett McHardy and
Cedrick Theodore. UMB answered with a power-play goal at 8:31 to cut the lead to one.
Marcus Bellomo extended the lead to 3–1 at 9:15, scoring his first collegiate goal with assists from
Josef Vyvial and
Jackson Edwards.
UMass Boston tied the game in the third period, scoring twice—including the equalizer with 1:18 left after pulling its goalie—to force overtime.
Castleton closed it out 2:16 into overtime. Chakrabarti created the chance himself, sliding a pass across the crease to McHardy to pull the goalie off his spot, then got the puck back and buried it before the keeper could recover.
