How It Happened
Castleton controlled the first period and finally broke through late, with Jason Atkinson scoring off a Cole Bowditch assist for a 1–0 lead.

The Spartans made it 2–0 early in the second when Luke Chakrabarti scored at 1:21, assisted by Emmett McHardy and Cedrick Theodore. UMB answered with a power-play goal at 8:31 to cut the lead to one.

Marcus Bellomo extended the lead to 3–1 at 9:15, scoring his first collegiate goal with assists from Josef Vyvial and Jackson Edwards.

UMass Boston tied the game in the third period, scoring twice—including the equalizer with 1:18 left after pulling its goalie—to force overtime.
