PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team finished the Wildcat Open with seven place finishers. Two winners at first, second, and third, and one fourth-place finisher.
Blake Chapman earned a first-place finish at 174 pounds going 4-0 on the day, pinning his first two opponents, and beating his next two via major decision 10-1, and 17-4.
Abbas Abdulrahman finished the day 5-0 at 285 pounds, earning his 100th career win, pinning his last four opponents to end the day after winning his first match by major decision, 20-9.
Desmond McLaughlin finished second at 174 pounds, going 3-1 on the day, earning all three wins via decision.
Keonta Crawford finished second at 285 pounds, pinning his first opponent in 25 seconds. He won his second match via major decision, 8-0 and won his third by decision, 4-1.
Tylik Epps finished third at 141 pounds, going 4-1 on the day. He pinned his first opponent in 2:32, before winning his second match via tech fall, 19-4, and his third by major decision before dropping a match, and winning his final match by medical forfeit.
Josh Negron finished third at 197 pounds, going 4-1 on the day. Winning his first match via decision, and pinning his second opponent in 1:19, he finished the day with two more victories.
Corbin Maraia finished fourth at 184 pounds, going 4-2 on the day winning via decision over his first opponent, pinning his second opponent, and winning via decision and medical forfeit in his last two wins of the day.
