RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's hockey team fell to No. 12 Skidmore College 7-1 Friday evening.
The Thoroughbreds showcased their talent with an action packed first period. They scored four goals, including a powerplay goal, in the opening period of play.
First-Year
Luke Chakrabarti put the Spartans on the board with a set up play from
Andrew Stefura and
Aiden Robson to get Castleton back into the mix.
Castleton continued to fire away looking to close the gap on Skidmore, but the Thoroughbreds extended their lead with three more goals to seal the victory at 7-1.
Josh Ward and
Dominic Rodrigue split time in the net to combine for 27 saves.
The Spartans will look to tie the series tomorrow for a 4 p.m. puck drop at Spartan Arena.
