CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team took down Delaware Valley, 32-3 Friday night in an electric Glenbrook Gym.
Gavin Bradley opened the night for the Spartans at 125 pounds. Bradley came out hot clinching an 8-6 win via decision to put the Spartans up 3-0.
Drew Marchese extended the lead to 6-0, narrowly pulling out a 2-1 win via decision at 133 pounds.
James Rodriguez dominated his matchup at 141 pounds with an exciting 11-3 win via major decision, giving the Spartans a 10-0 lead.
Elijah Cyr extended the Spartans lead to 13-0, edging out Charlie Robson 17-15 via decision at 149 pounds.
Nathaniel Camiscioli came in for the Spartans at 157 pounds to take a 4-1 win via decision to lengthen the lead even further for the Spartans.
Jashon Holmes held on at 165 pounds, winning 9-8 via decision, beating out Ernazar Baiyshbekov with riding time.
Desmond McLaughlin brought the Spartans up to 22-0, winning 8-1 via decision at 174 pounds. At 184 pounds,
Sampson Wilkins gave the Spartans their first win via tech fall of the day, taking down Kole Lester 16-0 to give the Spartans a 27-0 lead.
Haven Tatarek earned the Spartans second tech fall of the day at 197 pounds, defeating Aidan Murray 21-5, extending the lead to 32-0 for the Spartans. The only loss of the night for the Spartans came at 285 pounds, with
Evan Day falling 4-2 via decision.
Castleton travels to Norwich tomorrow, Saturday, November 16 for the annual Battle for the Green Mountain Championship, beginning at 6 p.m.
