RUTLAND, Vt. — The Castleton men's tennis team topped NVU-Lyndon, 7-2, Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated in 2023.

The Spartans (3-0) kept its streak of doubles sweeps alive as Miki Almirall and Phil Kluge turned away Jeffrey Blais and David Gratton for a flight-one win. Stanley Andersen and Connor Davis prevailed in a tightly-contested match at flight No. 2, taking an 8-5 set over Quinlan Peer/Garrick Webster. Andy Phelan teamed with Dylan Miller to knock down NVU-Lyndon's (1-1) Matthew Condon/James Sylvas in the third slot, 8-2.

Despite posting a 6-2 first set, Almirall lost the second to Blais by the same margin. The reigning Little East Conference Player of the Week battled back, snatching a 6-4 victory to remain 3-0 at the top flight. Davis outlasted Webster at flight No. 3, falling in a second-set tiebreak before logging a 10-5 super tiebreaker. Andy Phelan put away Condon in straight sets at the fifth spot as Rowan Kidder defeated Salvas 6-2, 6-0 in his first match of the season.

The Hornets logged wins at the second and fourth spots in singles action as Kluge fell 3-6, 1-6 while Andersen fell in a super tiebreaker.

Castleton hits the road on Thursday, March 23 to take on Norwich for the second time. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
