KEENE, N.H. -- The Castleton women's cross country team dashed to an 11th place finish at Saturday's Keene State Invitational.
Bethany Davis led all Spartan runners with a time of 20:41.24, good for 37th in the field of 138.
Eden Goldstein turned in a 67th place finish, clocking in at 22:14.69. Within ten ticks was
Amber Cuthbert who placed 71st and crossed the line at 22:23.93.
Trinity Lynch (25:57.38) and
Charlotte Morrison (25:58.94) rounded out the five-runner stable with finishes of 112th and 114th, respectively.
Rachel Brennan from Gordon crossed the finish line first with a swift 18:16.40 run, leading the field by 15 seconds. Bridget Pickard of Brandeis scored a runner-up finish while Ruby Krasnow of Clark University also snagged a podium appearance. Brandeis placed Pickard as well as Juliette Intrieri (4th) and Lizzy Reynolds (5th) in the top five to claim first place in team competition with 40 points. The host Owls came in second, followed by Wheaton in third and LEC opponent Eastern Connecticut State in fourth. UMass Dartmouth (7th, 163 points), Castleton (11th, 365), and UMass Boston (13th, 366) rounded out the Little East squads in Saturday's team standings.
The Spartans now direct their focus toward their final regular-season race on Saturday, October 15th in the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce. The women's 5K race begins at 11 a.m.
