GORHAM, Maine -- The Castleton University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 Little East Conference (LEC) contest to Southern Maine Saturday afternoon at Gorham High School.

Despite earning three games apiece, both the first and second doubles flights suffered losses to the hands of the Huskies.
Rowan Kidder and
Rafael Robles, playing together for the first time this season, won two games before dropping an 8-2 decision at first doubles.
Jason Lipscomb and
Connor Davis, playing at second doubles, fell 8-1. The Spartans forfeited third doubles due to a lack of players, giving the Huskies a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Lipscomb came through for the Spartans during singles, earning the only victory for the Spartans. Lipscomb dominated as he earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira. The Spartans dropped the rest of the singles matches, including a default at fifth singles and a forfeit at sixth singles.

Castleton returns to action Friday, April 30, as it concludes the 2021 season as it travels to take on Western Connecticut State at 2 p.m.
