RUTLAND, Vt. - The Castleton men's hockey team fell 6-0 to fifth-ranked Hobart Saturday afternoon at Spartan Arena.
The Statesmen (8-1-1, 5-0-1 NEHC) would tack on three goals in the opening period and not look back en route to the dominant road win. Jonah Alexander scored his first of two goals on a power play opportunity in the early minutes.Â
The second period featured just one Hobart goal as
Dominic Rodrigue made 13 saves to limit the damage heading into the final 20 minutes.Â
Hobart kept its foot on the gas through the remainder of the contest, netting a pair of goals in the final five minutes.
The Spartans (3-8-1, 0-5-1 NEHC) mustered 19 shots against the tough Statesmen defense, led by
Brandon Picard with four.Â
Freshman
Dominic Rodrigue made his second start of the season and totaled 40 saves. He's eclipsed 100 saves on the season in three games.Â
Castleton caps off the home stretch with a Tuesday evening matchup with Saint Michael's College at 7 p.m.
