CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton cross country teams hosted the LEC Championships this Saturday, finishing ninth in their final meet of the season.
Leading the way for the Spartans were
Eden Goldstein and
Amber Cuthbert. The freshmen duo finished in 33
rd and 34
th with times of 23:49 (7:40 mile time) and 23:51 (7:41 mile time respectively). For Cuthbert, this shaved nearly a minute off of her time in Castleton's opening meet back in September.
Finishing closely behind Goldstein and Cuthbert was
Annika Saunus, who crossed the line in 43
rd with a time of 24:29 (7:53 mile time). The freshman also showed excellent improvement over the course of the year, shaving off over a minute from her September time.
Next to cross the line for the Spartans were
Tatiana Tobolka and
Myra Castleton. Tobolka crossed the line in 48
th with a time of 26:31 (8:32 mile time) while Castleton finished in 55
th with a time of 27:57 (9:00 mile time). For Castleton, this is nearly two minutes faster than her time in the Castleton Invitational back in September.
Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans were
Charlotte Morrison and
Paige Mattson, who finished in 56
th and 59
th with times of 28:24 (9:09 mile time) and 32:15 (10:23 mile time) respectively.
Plymouth State took home the trophy with 69 points, led by the day's top-finisher Kim Bowles. Finishing closely behind was Eastern Connecticut (70), with Keene State rounding out the top-3 with 79 points. In their final meet of the season, Castleton finished in ninth with 212 points.
