BABSON PARK, Mass. - Fourth-ranked Castleton let a late-game lead slip away and settled for a 2-2 overtime draw with Babson in ECAC East play on Saturday afternoon at the Babson Skating Center.

The Spartans were looking for their first win in three games, but a power-play goal with 40 seconds left tied it up and they were unable to net the game-winner in overtime. Castleton moves to 15-4-2 on the season and 10-2-2 in conference action while Babson goes to 7-11-3 overall and 7-4-3 in ECAC East play.

The Spartans got on the board first, scoring just 2:07 into the contest on a goal by junior Dan Bell (Victoria, B.C.). Junior Justin Alonzo (San Jose, Calif.) and sophomore Nick Lazorko (Rockwall, Texas) were both credited with assists on the play.

Babson responded six minutes later as Mike Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) netted the equalizer on the Beavers' first power play of the contest.

The score remained 1-1 until the third, when Bell lit the lamp at the 8:18 mark for his second goal of the game. Senior Cody Ayers (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman Ryan Frost (Fullerton, Calif.) both earned assists on the play

Castleton held Babson at bay over the next ten minutes; however, the Beavers finally broke though on the power play with just 40 seconds remaining in regulation on a goal by Shayne Anderson (Dorchester, Mass.).

Sophomore Eric Cinotti (Mahwah, N.J.) made 29 stops between the pipes for the Spartans while Andrew Peabody (Marblehead, Mass.) recorded 42 saves for Babson.

Castleton returns to action on Friday when the team hosts St. Michael's at 7 p.m.
