Plymouth, NH-Castleton skated to their first win of the young season, 3-2 over Plymouth State. Castleton's Steve Culbertson scored his first goal with undre two minutes remaining to propel the Spartans to victory.
The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead on a Chris Chambers goal less than five minutes into the first period. Castleton had the answer with 34 seconds remaining in the period when Ryan Bartlett sent home the equalizer, assisted by Jared Lavender and Kirk Bolduc. Both teams were held scoreless in the second period, but Castleton seemed to take the advantage when Jeff Lazeren scored seven minutes into the final frame, assisted by Evan Romeo and Matt Link. Plymouth would not go away, however, and after a series of Castleton penalties left the Spartans two men down, Plymouth tied the game with four minutes remaining. Two minutes later Culbertson took a feed from Ross Carmichael and sent home the gamae winner.
Jeff Swanson stopped 16 shots in the win for Castleton who improves to 1-1-1. Mick Fitzpatrick stopped 33 in the loss for the 1-3 Panthers. Castleton is back in action on Sunday, November 26 when they play host to Becker College at 3:00 PM.
