PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- After posting a first-place finish in the Vermont State Meet, Kaylyn Crompton was named Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Runner of the Week for the week ending in September 29.
The senior from Barre, Vt., led the Spartans to a second-place finish in the Vermont State Meet on September 27 as she completed the race in first-place with a time of 20:56 (6:45 mile time). Crompton finished the five-kilometer race 11 seconds ahead of the second-place runner while also shaving off 54 seconds from her time at the Castleton Invitational on September 7.
Crompton finished in first place in a field with Division III opponents Vermont Tech, Northern Vermont University-Johnson, and Northern Vermont University-Lyndon while also competing against Division II St. Michael's College.
Castleton women's cross country will return to action on Saturday, October 12 as it competes in the James Earley Invitational in Westfield, Massachusetts. The women's race is slated to begin at 11:15 a.m.
