Crompton Leads Women's Cross Country to First Place Finish at Castleton Invitational

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's cross country team outpaced the competition as it took the top four spots to finish first at the Castleton Invitational. 

Senior Kaylyn Crompton took home first place to help lead the team to a first-place team finish. Crompton outpaced the entire field as she won the event for the third time in four seasons. Her five-kilometer time of 21:50 (7:02 mile time) was over a minute faster than fellow teammate Giselle Rainville. Rainville, competing in her first season with the team, finished second with a time of 23:06 (7:26 mile time).

Junior Lydia Maier finished third with a time of 23:09 (7:27 mile time) and Birgit Kinneberg finished fourth with a time of 23:51 (7:41 mile time) secured the win for the team.

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Martina Comas-Altland (12th - 26:24), Erin Sulva (16th - 28:01), and Charlotte Morrison (18th - 29:53). 

Women's cross country returns to action as it travels to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 21. The women's race is set to start at 12 p.m.
