Crompton Paces Women's Cross Country to Third Place Finish at Cardinal Classic

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Kaylyn Crompton placed eighth to lead the Castleton University's women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Cardinal Classic. 

Crompton, participating in her final season, finished the five-kilometer race with a time of 21:21.0 (6:53 mile pace). Freshman Birgit Kinneberg was the other lone top 20 finisher for the Spartans as she placed 18th with a time of 23:17.6 (7:30 mile pace).

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Claudia Sherman (21st – 23:41.1), Lydia Maier (24th – 24:35.1), Erin Sulva (26th – 27:59.2), and Charlotte Morrison (27th – 28:36.6).

Plattsburgh's Jasmine Roberts came in first place with a time of 19:29.8 but St. Lawrence had seven runners finish in the top ten to take home first place in team scoring. Castleton finished with 70 points.

The Spartans will return to action next Saturday, September 7 when they host the Castleton Invitational, with the women's race set to begin at 11 a.m.
