Crompton Wins Eighth Career Race; Women's Cross Country Third at Green Mountain Invitational

POULTNEY, Vt. - Kaylyn Crompton earned her eighth career first-place finish to lead Castleton at the Green Mountain College Women's Invitational on Saturday.

The Spartans placed third in the team scoring out of eight qualifying teams with 88 points. 

Crompton finished 12 seconds ahead of the second place finisher with her season-best time of 19:50.

St. Joseph's narrowly claimed the team victory with 36 points, including four top-10 finishes. SUNY Delhi was second with 38 points, also claiming four top-ten spots.

Ashley Darrell finished 17th in 21:48, while Megan Greene chased close behind and clocked in at 21:53 to place 19th. 

To complete the scoring for the Spartans, Emily Maier and Emily Greene crossed together to place 31st and 32nd, respectively.

Following Castleton in the team scoring was Cobleskill and Green Mountain (125 points), Maine Maritime (145 points), NVU-Johnson (187) and MCLA (192 points).

Castleton will send athletes to the Little East Conference (LEC) Championships on Oct. 27 in Providence, R.I.
