Women’s Cross Country Competes at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Castleton University women's cross country team competed in the five-kilometer UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon. 

Junior Lydia Maier shaved over two minutes off of her personal-best and finished 66th in 20:01.3 to lead the Spartans. Kaylyn Crompton followed close behind and finished 114th with a time of 20:36.1.

Ashley Darrell (212th) Emily Greene (223rd) and Emily Maier (259th) rounded out the scoring for the Spartans with times of 22:35.3, 22:43.8 and 24:01.7, respectively.

Holy Cross took the team title with 29 points. They were followed by Springfield (62 points), Merrimack (107 points), Brandeis (116 points), and Mount Holyoke (126) in the top-five in team scoring.

Castleton will have a week off before they will compete at the Vermont State Meet on Sept. 29.
