Crompton Garners ECAC Rookie and Runner of the Week

CASTLETON, Vt. - Following a fourth place finish in the 5K Western New England Invitational, freshman Kaylyn Crompton of the Castleton women's cross country team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Rookie and Runner of the Week.

Crompton tallied her fourth top five of the season with a fourth place finish out of 242 runners in the Western New England Invitational, crossing the line just seconds off the lead with an impressive time of 19:31. As the leading NAC runner by nearly two minutes, the Barre native led her team team to a seventh place finish out of 22 programs in the meet. 

Crompton had a pace of 6:17 and finished between five runners from the University of New England as the Nor'easters earned the first place team finish, taking five of the top six positions overall. 

The Spartans return to action on Oct. 29 for the NAC Championship, hosted by Johnson State.
