CASTLETON, Vt. – Following a fourth place finish in the five-kilometer Western New England Invitational, freshman Kaylyn Crompton of the Castleton women's cross country team has been named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week.
Crompton came to the finish line just seconds off the lead, completing the event with an impressive time of 19:31, placing fourth overall out of 242 runners in the meet. The Barre native had a pace of 6:17 and finished between five runners from the University of New England as the Nor'easters earned the first place team finish, taking five of the top six positions overall.
The freshman led all NAC runners by nearly two minutes and powered Castleton to a seventh place team finish out of 22 programs in the meet. This is the fifth time Crompton has taken Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Castleton returns to action at the NAC Championships on Oct. 29, hosted by Johnson State.
