Three School Records Broken for Women's Indoor Track and Field at Panther Invitational

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Castleton women's indoor track and field team set three school records at the Panther Invitational hosted by Plymouth State on Saturday.

Ally Stearns won the weight throw with a toss of 14.74 meters (48'4.5"), nearly .4 meters further than her own school record, to defeat 18 competitors. Bronwen Hopwood earned a fourth-place long jump of 4.85 meters (15'11") to edge out her own record. Lydia Maier narrowly cracked Hopwood's record in the 400-meter run. She placed fifth out of 16 in the event with a time of 1:03.30. Hopwood followed close behind with a time of 1:04.10 to finish seventh.

The senior rookie was also 15th in the field of 35 in the 60-meter dash in 8.73 seconds. Emily Maier placed 24th with a time of 9.08 seconds. Maier was also 12th in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.81 seconds.

Elsewhere, the 4x200-meter relay team of Emily Maier, Ricki Mihulka, Lydia Maier, and Hopwood placed sixth out of 10 with a time of 1:57.71.

Mihulka also competed in the long jump where she finished 14th with a distance 3.84 meters (12'7.25").

Castleton will return to Plymouth State on Saturday, Feb. 16 for the Little East Conference Championships.
