Emily Maier Breaks Hurdles Record for Women's Indoor Tack & Field at Middlebury Winterfell

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Emily Maier ran the 60-meter hurdles in 10.64 seconds to break the school record for the Castleton women's indoor track & field team at the Middlebury Winterfell on Saturday.

Maier achieved the feet in the preliminaries with the third-best time before placing fourth in the finals. She also competed in the long jump, where she placed ninth with a jump of 4.13 meters (13'6.75")

Bronwen Hopwood placed second in the 60-meter dash in 8.78 seconds (8.76 prelims), eighth in the 200-meter dash (29.24), seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:05.07), and fifth in the long jump (4.68 meters, 15'4.25").

Lydia Maier added eight points to the Castleton total after finishing second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.51. Ashley Darrell placed third in 3:01.98. L. Maier was also fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.85.

Ally Stearns was the lone Spartan representative in the throws, where she was second out of five in the weight throw with a distance of 12.68 meters (41'7.25").  

The Spartans will return to Middlebury for the third consecutive weekend at the Middlebury Invitational running two days next weekend (Jan. 25-26). The meet will commence on Friday at 2 p.m. before continuing on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
