Hopwood Improves on Own School Long Jump Record for Women's Indoor Track and Field at Middlebury Winter Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Bronwen Hopwood broke her own school record in the long jump as part of her effort in four events for the women's indoor track and field team at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday.

Hopwood placed third in the long jump with the record-setting distance of 4.79 meters (15'8.75"). She was also seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:06.48), and eighth in the 60-meter dash (8.69) and the 200-meter dash (29.28).

Lydia Maier finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.62 and sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.25.

Emily Maier was the lone Castleton competitor in the 60-meter hurdles where she placed fifth in 11.18 seconds. She was also 14th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 9.23 seconds. 

The Spartans will return to Middlebury College for the Middlebury Winterfell on Saturday, Jan. 19 with the meet set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
