Reen Recognized as NAC Rookie of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine – Coming off a stellar performance at the North Atlantic Conference Championships on Sunday, Carlie Reen of the Castleton women's track and field team has been named NAC Rookie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Reen was a part of two victories to help lead the Spartan squad to a third place finish at the championships at Colby-Sawyer. The freshman saved the best for last, as she won the 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 1:03.42, pacing the field of eight runners to the finish line and clocking in 36 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Reen was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that won the conference title with another school record. She helped lead the quartet to a time of 4:19.33, which shattered the previous school record by nearly 10 full seconds and bested the second place team by over two seconds.

Competing in three total events, Reen helped the team collect eight more points as she was on the 4x100 relay team that took second place with a time of 55.80 seconds, just over three seconds off the lead.

This is the first career weekly honor for Reen as she wraps up her freshman campaign. To view the full NAC weekly awards release, click here.
