DeBaise, Patch Enter Throwing Events at New England Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior Brielle DeBaise and freshman Carley Patch represented the Castleton University women's track and field team as they competed at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, hosted by Williams College.

Friday, DeBaise continually improved on her three throws in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 39.59 meters (129' 11") on her third and final attempt to finish in 16th place in the event.

Saturday, DeBaise did the same thing during the discus throw to finish in 11th place, improving on every throw with her final attempt traveling 35.20 meters (115' 6"), less than a quarter of a meter off her school record mark from last year.

Patch also posted her best mark on her third and final attempt in the discus throw, finishing in 16th place with a mark of 31.76 meters (104' 2").

After setting seven school records during the indoor season, the Castleton women's track and field team posted several new school records during the outdoor campaign. The Spartans finished in third place at last week's NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, led by DeBaise's conference title in the discus throw.
