Women's Tennis Drops Road Match To Salem State

SALEM, Mass. – Earning each point during the match, the host Salem State Vikings defeated the Castleton University women's tennis team 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the SSU Courts.

Castleton falls to 2-5 overall with the loss, while dropping to 0-4 in Little East competition. Meanwhile, Salem State improves to 4-2 and 3-1.

Taking a game apiece, the duos of Megan Nadler and Kirsten Kruk and Alexis Curley and Becca Corsette put the strongest Spartan fight, dropping 8-1 decisions in first and second doubles.

Nadler continued to battle at the first level of singles, dropping the first set 6-2. In the second, the junior stayed with the opposing before succumbing to a late break of serve (6-3).

In the sixth flight of singles action, Curley dropped the opener 6-1 before bouncing back and pushing the Vikings player to the brink. Also falling on a late break, Curley dropped the second set by a 6-4 tally.

Women's tennis returns to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as it hosts the University of Southern Maine in conference action.
