WATERVILLE, Maine – The Castleton University women's tennis team has been named the No. 2 seed in the upcoming season-ending North Atlantic Conference championship, which was made official by the conference office on Monday evening.
Castleton has notched nine wins (9-4) to this point with potentially two contests left on the schedule. It will be looking to make a return to the conference's title contest after failing to do so for the first time in over six years in 2016.
Megan Nadler has led a rejuvenated Spartan squad that went 7-8 during last season. The Rutland, Vt. native is an impressive 12-1 in singles action, dropping just four sets. She has also maintained a 10-3 doubles record.
Tournament play will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday as Castleton plays Husson University in the semifinal round. Earlier in the season, the Spartans thumped the Eagles 8-1 at the Castleton Courts. They swept doubles before winning five of six singles matches.
If Castleton defeats Husson, it will advance to the final of the NAC Tournament against the winner of Match 1, which features host Colby-Sawyer College and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
The winners of each match will compete in the final round tentatively one hour after the opening matches are complete. Please note, all dates and times are tentative and subject to change due to inclement weather. The NAC Champion will then receive an automatic berth to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.
