Spartans Head To Johnson State In Regular-Season Finale

CASTLETON, Vt. – Following an absolutely dominant showing its last time out, Castleton travels to northern Vermont for a North Atlantic Conference battle against Johnson State.

After putting together a convincing 7-2 victory over the Badgers at the Castleton Courts in the first match of the year, the Spartans will look for a repeat performance in their final regular season contest of 2017

The teams of Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk, as well as Megan Nadler and Danarose Weaver, turned in strong performances in doubles to get Castleton started.

During individual play, Emily Miller, Bannister, Nadler and Weaver all posted convincing straight-set triumphs. Meanwhile, Kruk battled through three sets to come out on top.

Last time out at Lyndon State, the Spartans were at their best, pulling out a 9-0-shutout victory. In the top spot, Bannister dropped just two games, while Nadler and Kruk followed with 6-0, 6-0 routs.

Alexis Curley also posted a double bagel scoreline as Weaver surrendered a single game in the first set, prior to cruising to a 6-0 second set. At fourth singles, Miller earned an 8-1 win in a pro-set format.

Depending on Saturday's results, the 8-4 (5-1 NAC) Spartans will wait for their potential playoff seeding in the 2017 league championship. The action is scheduled to take place on Oct. 7 at Colby-Sawyer College.
