Spartan Women's Tennis Stifles Lyndon State

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Castleton University women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over host Lyndon State in their penultimate match of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Spartans move to 8-4 overall after their fourth consecutive victory. In conference play, they are now 5-1 with one match remaining.

Castleton was dominant from the starting serve, earning a clean sweep at doubles while losing just three games over the opening three matches. Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk continued to roll in the top doubles spot, posting an 8-2 victory.

Megan Nadler and Danarose Weaver held their own with an 8-1 triumph, while Emily Miller and Alexis Curley clinched a shutout 8-0 win.

More of the same followed during singles play with Nadler, Kruk, and Curley rolling to double bagel 6-0, 6-0 score lines. Weaver dropped a single game – 6-1, 6-0 – while Bannister dropped just two – 6-2, 6-0 – in the top spot. Miller posted an 8-1 win in a pro-set format, as the match had already been decided prior to her taking the court.

The Spartans complete their regular season slate with a match at Johnson State, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
