Women's Tennis Opens Conference Weekend Against Husson

CASTLETON, Vt. – After bouncing back from two-straight losses, Castleton downed conference-opponent Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts – 8-1 – on Tuesday. The Spartans improved to 2-1 in the North Atlantic Conference heading into this weekend's league doubleheader with Husson University and Thomas College.

So far in 2017, Megan Nadler leads the Spartan squad with an 8-1 singles record. In doubles, she is 6-3 with a variety of partners. Danarose Weaver follows closely behind Nadler with a 5-2 slate, while Emily Miller is 4-4.

Beginning with the Eagles at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Castleton looks to bounce back from a 6-3 loss in 2016. Kirsten Kruk, Kayla Zsido, and Miller all recorded wins in individual play.

For Husson, it is 4-1 on the year with its lone loss coming at Southern Maine in nonconference play.

Thomas College is 1-4 during the 2017 slate and will face Green Mountain College prior to heading to the Castleton Courts. In last year's meeting, the Spartans downed the Terriers by a 6-3 final tally.

The coming conference-play weekend will go a long way toward shaping the postseason standings as Castleton, Husson, and Thomas all have two final NAC matches.
