Castleton Earns Dominating Victory At Home

RUTLAND, Vt. – The Castleton University women's tennis team defeated the Green Mountain College Eagles 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Grand Slam Tennis Arena. Castleton improves to 2-1, while the Eagles begin the season with a loss.

Castleton started off the match on fire and continued that way throughout. The Spartans claimed points in all three doubles, led by Ciara Bannister and Megan Nadler in the top spot. Finishing with an 8-3 tally, the duo dominated throughout.

At second and third doubles, the pairs of Emily Miller and Danarose Weaver as well as Lauren Reck and Alexis Curley won their matches 8-4 and 8-0, respectively.

Reck led the way in singles, putting together a masterful performance. The senior defeated her opponent in double bagel fashion, registering a 6-0, 6-0 line. Bannister and Nadler held strong once again, dropping five games combined over the four sets played.

 At fourth singles, Weaver dropped just one game, while registering a bagel with a 6-1, 6-0 line. Curley followed suit against her opponent with the same score.

Castleton returns to the courts at 4 p.m. on Thursday for a home contest against Plymouth State.
