Women's Tennis Edged By Johnson State in NEAC East Contest

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's tennis team fell to Johnson State, 6-3, in NEAC East competition on Saturday afternoon at the Rutland Tennis Club. 

The loss drops the Spartans to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference, while Johnson State improves 8-4, 5-2.

Megan Nadler and Kayla Zsido earned one point for Castleton in doubles action with an 8-0 win, sending the Spartans into singles down 2-1. 

Two more Spartans earned points in singles action. Nadler earned her fifth win of the season with set wins by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 in second singles. Zsido improved to 7-4 on the season and 5-2 in conference play with a win in fourth singles, taking straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3.

Emily Miller nearly earned another point for Castleton after a 6-1 win in the first set of fifth singles, but Johnson State battled back to win the final two sets, 6-1 and 6-0, securing the victory for the Chargers.

Castleton will play its final contest before the NEAC East tournament at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a home contest versus Sage College.
