Womens Tennis Comes up Short At Husson

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision this afternoon at Husson in a North East Atlantic Conference East matchup.

With the loss, the Spartans fall to 6-4 on the season and 3-2 in the NEAC East while Husson moves to 5-1, 4-1 with the win.

Husson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles action with a pair of 8-3 wins followed by an 8-2 victory in third singles.

The Spartans fought back in singles action, splitting the final six points of the match.  Kirsten Kruk rallied a comeback to improve to 8-2 on the season in third singles with 6-3 and 6-0 wins after dropping the first set 6-0.


Kayla Zsido earned her fifth win of the season with straight set triumphs by scores of 6-0 and 6-4, before Emily Miller tallied the final point for Castleton with a pair of 6-3 wins in sixth singles.

Castleton returns to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when the Spartans host Lyndon State in another NEAC East matchup.
