Castleton Earns Second Consecutive Victory

Pittsfield, Mass. - After an 0-5 start to the season, the Spartans continued to build momentum winning their second consecutive match on Sunday against MCLA. Castleton earned a sweep of all three doubles flights and took four of six singles matches to earn a 7-2 victory.

In doubles play, Meghan Susslin and Sara Novenstern notched their first win of the season at first doubles with an 8-4 victory. At second doubles, Olga McIntyre and Kaydeen Juaire scraped out a 9-8 victory. Ruby Bushey and Monika Plante teamed at the third flight to earn a 8-2 win, giving the Spartans an early 3-0 lead over the Trailblazers. 

In singles play, McIntyre extended her third singles win streak to three matches. Novenstern, Bushey, and Plante each won in straight sets to propel the Spartans to a 7-2 win against the hosts. The victory is the Spartans second in a row, moving them to 2-5 on the season. They will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 24 when they host Plattsburgh St.
