Troy, N.Y. - Castleton took a tough loss on Tuesday when they lost five of six singles flights and fell 7-2 to Sage Colleges at Prospect Park in Troy.
The Spartans grabbed their first point of the match when Olga McIntyre and Kaydeen Juaire teamed at second doubles to earn an 8-1 victory. As a pair, McIntyre and Juaire have won their last two matches at second doubles.
Castleton trailed 2-1 after the three doubles matches, and fell further off the pace in singles play. McIntyre and Juaire each took their opponents to a third set tiebreaker, but neither could pull of a victory. It was Sara Novenstern at second singles that earned the Spartans' only singles point. The sophomore fought back to earn a third set victory against Sage's Erin Duffy.
Castleton falls to 0-4 on the season and will take on Plymouth St. in a home match on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
