Spartans Edged Out by Lyndon St.

Lyndon Center, Vt. - Castleton fell at the hands of Lyndon St., dropping a tight match 5-4 at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center on Saturday. Olga Mcintyre and Kaydeen Juaire were double winners for the Spartans, but it wasn't enough as the squad fell to the Hornets.

In doubles action, Lyndon's Kayla Flynn and Olivia Bernard dropped Meghan Susslin and Sara Novenstern 8-5 in the first flight. Juaire and McIntyre teamed up for a 9-7 win over Alex Maynard and Kelly Butler at second doubles, but the Spartans defaulted third doubles and found themselves in a 2-1 hole.

The Spartans took three of six singles matches, with Novenstern, McIntyre, and Juaire each winning in straight sets, but it wasn't enough to topple the Hornets as they earned their first victory of the season.

Castleton is now 0-3 on the year and will travel to Sage Colleges on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in search of their first win.
