Castleton, Vt. - The Spartans fell short of their first win of the season, dropping their match 6-3 to Johnson St. on Tuesday on Castleton's new tennis courts.
The squad dropped two of three doubles matches to put themselves in an early 2-1 hole. Kaydeen Juaire and Taylor Reynolds salvaged the team's only doubles point with an 8-2 victory at third doubles over the Badgers' Clarisse Talley and Eden Towers.
In singles, Castleton dropped four of six singles to fall 6-3. Olga McIntyre took down a third set superbreaker to earn a point at third singles. She defeated Megan Ploof 6-3, 2-6, 10-7. At fourth singles, Juaire earned her second point of the day, downing Kate Murphy 6-1, 6-0, becoming Castleton's only double-winner on the day.
