Spartans Win Third Straight at MCLA

Pittsfield, Mass. - The Castleton women's tennis team stretched its winning streak to three in a row with a 6-3 victory at Mass.-College of Liberal Arts on Tuesday.

The Spartans were led by Sara Novenstern, who teamed with senior Chelsea Crehan to grab the Spartans' lone doubles point, an 8-2 victory at the second doubles flight. Novenstern then went on to defeat MCLA's Stephanie Giardina 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles, and was the Spartans sole double-winner on the day.

After falling behind 2-1 in doubles play, the Spartans regained the lead, and took the match by winning five out of six singles flights.

The squad improves to 7-6 on the season, over .500 for the first time since starting the year 1-0. Castleton will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 16 against Lyndon St.
