PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Castleton's Tatum Shappy was named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 29.
The honor comes for Shappy after she scored twice in the opening three minutes of play as the Spartans defeated Southern Maine, 5-0, on Saturday in conference action. The win improved the Spartans' record to 5-4-0 and 2-1-0 in LEC play, where they currently sit in a tie atop of the standings with six points.
Shappy's first tally served as the game-winning goal. She finished the game with four shots, including three on goal. Through nine games, the freshman and Milton, Vermont native has four goals for eight points and 22 shots. She currently ranks in a tie for seventh in the league in goals.
The Castleton women's soccer squad returns to action on Tuesday as it will host Springfield College at 4 p.m. in a non-conference contest to kick off the second half of the campaign.
