CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's alpine ski team claimed each of the top-three spots in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference MacConnell Division individual standings en route to placing seven racers on the All-MacConnell Division Team.
The Spartans were headlined by Skier and Rookie of the Year Karoline Rettenbacher, who won each of her final five races of the season and placed on the podium in seven of her eight appearances. Linn Ljungemo finished second in the standings with three runner-up finishes, while Kylie Mackie was No. 3 in the standings after placing in the top-10 in all eight races on the season with a win.
Kirsten Kruk, Lena Soehnle, and Li Aunes finished sixth, seventh and ninth, respectively, to earn the accolades, while Ellie Frischmon placed 16th to claim the last spot on the All-MacConnell Division Team. Frischmon also earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Brown University's coaching staff was awarded the Coaching Staff of the Year award, while Babson College earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Castleton returns to the slopes on February 23 for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf.
