QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Castleton University women's alpine ski team continued its dominance over the Easter Collegiate Ski Conference MacConnell Division on Sunday afternoon, picking up yet another first-place finish in the giant slalom at West Mountain.
The Spartans raced their way to a team time of 6:28.54, nearly 11 seconds ahead of second-place Babson (6:39.38). The University of Connecticut finished third at 6:52.16.
The Spartans swept the podium for the second day in a row, as Karoline Rettenbacher earned back-to-back top finishes for Castleton. The rookie clocked in at 2:08.33, besting Linn Ljungemo's second-place time of 2:09.69. Lena Soehnle rounded out the top-three with a time of 2:10.52.
Kyle Mackie and Kirsten Kruk nabbed top-10 finishes in sixth and seventh place with nearly-identical times of 2:12.49 and 2:12.64, while Li Aunes (2:16.89), Ellie Frischmon (2:20.99) and Ashleigh Brede (2:21.41) finished inside the top-20.
The Spartans return to the mountain next weekend at Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H., on Saturday and Sunday.
