Spartans Claim No. 2 Spot in Giant Slalom at West Mountain

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Castleton women's alpine skiing team used three top-15 finishes to claim the No. 2 spot in the giant slalom at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at West Mountain on Saturday.

Castleton was just 0.69 seconds from the top spot as a team, clocking in with a time of 4:39.89. Babson took the top spot at 4:39.20, while Brown rounded out the top three at 4:40.79.

Linn Ljungemo recorded her fifth podium result of the season, placing third overall out of 69 racers with a time of 1:32.17. Kylie Mackie registered a fifth-place mark for the Spartans at 1:32.95, while Kirsten Kruk was 14th overall at 1:34.77.

Caitlin Houston and Megan O'Shea rounded out the Spartan competitors with finishes of 30th and 32nd, respectively.

Brown's Ali Gunesch was the top individual finisher at 1:31.61, while the University of Connecticut's Alexandra Skovran was second at 1:32.03.

Castleton competes in the slalom tomorrow to wrap up the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at West Mountain.
