Women's Alpine Finishes Fourth in GS at Crotched Mountain

BENNINGTON, N.H. – The Castleton women's alpine ski team finished in fourth place on Sunday, racing at Crotched Mountain in the giant slalom.

The Spartans posted a team time of 6:13.60, finishing behind third-place University of Connecticut (6:08.65). Brown claimed the top spot, with a time of 6:06.29, while Babson finished second at 6:07.89. Clarkson rounded out the top five with a team time of 6:15.30.

Kirsten Kruk, Linn Ljungemo and Kylie Mackie finished consecutively in 12th, 13th and 14th on the day, while Megan O'Shea placed 19th to give Castleton four racers in the top 20 of a 74-racer field. Kruk paced the Spartans with a time of 2:03.92, while Ljungemo was on her heels at 2:04.04. Mackie's time of 2:05.64 was good for third on the team, while O'Shea posted a time of 2:07.12. Madeline Haggerty rounded out the Spartan racers in the top 30, finishing 30th with a time of 2:11.95.

Brown's Ali Gunesch finished first overall with a time of 2:00.76, while Alexandra Skovran (UConn) finished second at 2:00.93, and Babson's Liz Baer finished third at 2:01.28.

Castleton wraps up its regular season next Saturday and Sunday with slalom races at Blackwater Ski Area.
