LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Castleton's women's alpine skiing team captured a second-place finish yesterday in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y.
The Spartans delivered one of their best displays of the young season, finishing with a time of 393.12, just 6.54 seconds behind the winner, Brown. Babson came home in third with a time of 397.81 seconds, trailed by UConn (404.70), Clarkson (406.01), UMass Amherst (413.29) and St. Anselm (432.64).
Senior Lisa Davis turned in the best performance of her career, finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:10.60. Linn Ljungemo came home just 0.02 seconds behind Davis in fifth, while Anna-Julia Storch was the third Castleton skiier inside the top-10 with a seventh-place finish (2:11.90). Simona Croccolo and Rebecca Stodgell followed with respective finishes of 16th (2:13.71) and 17th (2:14.31).
The Spartans are back in action this afternoon, as the squad competes in the slalom at Whiteface Mountain.
