Castleton Steps Up in Competition at Journeymen Collegiate Classic

TROY, N.Y. – The Castleton University wrestling team faced several wrestlers from Division I schools Sunday as the Spartans participated in the Journeymen Wrestling Collegiate Classic at Hudson Valley Community College.

At 157 pounds, Cameron Milliken won three matches to finish second in his pool, capped by a victory over Richard Jackson of Kent State in a 7-4 decision. Max Tempel continued his strong start to the season by finishing second in one of the 149-pound pools, highlighted by a pinfall victory over Matt Conte of American University late in the match.

Nick Camacho also picked up a victory over a wrestler from a Division I school, finishing second in his pool at 133 pounds thanks in part to a 15-4 major decision victory over Nicholas Long of The Citadel. A pinfall victory for Kevin Meloni over LIU Post's Nicholas Conetta late in the first period helped Meloni to a second-place finish in one of the 125-pound pools.

Castleton enters a stretch of dual matches over the next week, including the Battle for the Green Mountain Championship against Norwich in Northfield, Vt., Thursday, Nov. 16, starting at 7 p.m.
