Women's Nordic Shows Well At ECSC Regional Championships; Off to Nationals


CHITTENDEN, Vt. – Placing second in the team relay and led by strong individual performances, the Castleton University women's nordic ski team competed in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Regional Championship over the weekend.

On Saturday, the women raced in a team classic sprint relay before taking part in a 15-kilometer skate race on Sunday.

Per the official results – made available on Monday afternoon – the Spartan team of Adi Toof, Molly O'Callaghan and Megan Greene recorded a second-place finish. The team completed the course with a time of 45:17 behind only Clarkson University, which notched a group split of 42:51.

In individual racing on Sunday, Greene paced the Spartans. The senior clocked a time of 49:24 and placed fourth out of 44 total racers. Following her for Castleton, Emily Greene placed 11th (52:55), while Toof was 14th (53:39) and O'Callaghan finished 15th (54:35).

Kaylyn Crompton (18th) recorded a time of 56:15, while Emily Cromie (28th) tallied a time of 1:00:41 and both were inside of the top 30.

Women's nordic will now travel to Wilson, Wyo. for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships. Events will begin on Sunday, March 10, concluding on Saturday, March 16 and will be held at the Trail Creek Nordic Center.
