Women’s Nordic Ski Team Qualifies for USCSA National Championships

NORTH CREEK, N.Y. – With three skiers among the top 10 in the official regional competition, the Castleton University women's Nordic ski team qualified for the USCSA National Championships with a second place finish Sunday at the ECSC Regional Championships, held at the North Creek Ski Bowl.

Megan Greene once again led the Spartans, finishing third among regional participants (fourth overall) with a time of 25:54 over the 7.5-kilometer course. Greene ended up just four seconds behind Bridget Wangler of Clarkson, with Wangler's teammate Ana Witkowski winning the event in 24:58.

Emily Cromie was next for the Spartans, finishing 8th among regional competitors and 14th overall with a time of 31:03. Kaylyn Crompton completed the event in 31:13, good enough to finish ninth in the regional and 16th overall.

Castleton heads to the USCSA National Championships for the second straight year, finishing in seventh place overall last season in Bend, Ore. This year's competition will take place March 6-10 at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, N.Y.
