Castleton Women’s Nordic Begins Weekend at Mansfield Divisionals

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Castleton University women's Nordic ski team competed in the seven-kilometer skate to begin the Mansfield Divisionals Saturday at the Ski Jump Complex at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

Megan Greene was the leading competitor for the Spartans, completing the event in 20:55 to finish in fourth place, just nine seconds behind the third-place finisher. Emily Cromie ended up in 15th place in the final standings with a time of 24:16.

Kaylyn Crompton was close behind Cromie in the individual standings, finishing in 17th place with a time of 24:29. Right behind Crompton in 18th place was Adrienne Toof, who completed the course in a time of 24:39.

Ana Witkowski of Clarkson won Saturday's event with a time of 20:26, just two seconds quicker than the mark of second-place finisher Allie Skahen of Vermont in 20:28.

The Mansfield Divisionals continue Sunday, Feb. 18, with the 10.5-kilometer Classic over the same course as Saturday's event. The women's competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
