CHITTENDEN, Vt. – With all four competitors finishing in the top 15, the Castleton University women's Nordic ski team finished in third place in the seven-kilometer Classical event Sunday at the Castleton Invitational, held at the Mountain Top Nordic Center.
Adrienne Toof posted a mark of 28:17 to finish in 14th place, just ahead of teammate Emily Cromie in 15th place with a time of 28:25. Isabel Sharp of Cornell dominated the individual competition, finishing first with a time of 23:48, almost a full minute ahead of Ana Witkowski of Clarkson in second place in 24:47.
Clarkson once again took the team title with 13 points, followed by Vermont with 20 points. Castleton collected 29 points to finish in third, just ahead of Cornell with 30 points. In the overall team standings for the weekend, Clarkson easily won the title, with Castleton in fourth.
Castleton will head to Lake Placid, N.Y., next weekend, Jan. 27-28, for the Clarkson Invitational.
