Women’s Nordic Ski Team Competes at Home Event

CHITTENDEN, Vt. – Led by two top-15 finishes, the Castleton University women's Nordic ski team completed the first day of the Castleton Invitational Saturday, held at the Mountain Top Nordic Center, in fourth place.

Megan Greene led the Spartans by finishing in fifth place in the 10-kilometer freestyle with a time of 34:16. Kaylyn Crompton was next for Castleton, posting a time of 38:30 to end up in 15th place in the individual standings.

Emily Cromie was close behind, finishing in 19th place with a mark of 39:56. Adrienne Toof posted a time of 40:28 to finish in 21st place for the Spartans.

As a team, Castleton collected 33 points to sit in fourth place in the team standings, just six points behind third place Cornell. Led by individual winner Ana Witkowski in 32:10, Clarkson ended the day on top of the team standings with 11 points, with Isabel Sharp of Cornell finishing second in 32:21. 

The second and final event of the Castleton Invitational, the 7.5-kilometer Classical, will take place Sunday, Jan. 21, starting at 9:30 a.m.
